The rehabilitative/therapeutic project for the
client is based on the need to not exclude, except
in certain specific cases, the families of the children
in the program, and on the importance of their involvement
within the context of the program.
In this respect, the community, which works mainly
with the client, requires the relevant authorities,
as far as they are able, to lead meetings of a psycho-educational
and / or therapeutic nature with the families, with
the aim of promoting a parallel or complementary
change to the development of the child.
The coach also requires the relevant authorities
to mediate the relationships between the community
and the family members, where there has been limited
collaboration, communication difficulties or incomprehension
with family members. We maintain that the management
of the communication with the family is a variable
determinant for the outcomes of the treatment.
The therapeutic representatives of the team undertake
periodic information sessions with family members
of the client (once a month with the child), with
the principal aim of updating the parents on the
progress of the community program and to stimulate
their active collaboration.
To improve the quality of community work, the family
is also requested to undertake a series of activities
with the community, with respect to their relationship
and their behaviour with their child. Such an activity,
explained by the community representatives, is planned
and discussed and undertaken with parents / guardians
at the moment of the client's entry to the community.
